Production- Hardware

Our production consisted mainly of our Shoot day on the 14th of May 2021, where we shot our whole Opening Title Sequence. We used a variety of industry-level hardware in order to create an impressive product, and dynamic shots.

During our shoot day we used a Black Magic Mini 4k URSA in order to shoot the majority of our shots, this camera provided us the flexibility and function to film both on a TriPod and handheld, which was incredibly useful, as the handheld added a chaotic nature to the shots which built the tensions within the frame, this was the desired effect, something quite typical of the action, horror, and thriller genres. This was a digital camera, which meant we could just the white balance, the exposure, and focus the camera with the aid of the digital screen attached to the camera. We were also

We had one particular shot we wanted to film from an aerial view, from the point of view of a security camera, which we used a GoPro HERO7 which I held in the corner of the elevator and shot downwards. This camera had a fish-eye lens, which created the desired curved effect.

We used a Sennheiser Shotgun Microphone to capture the sound and dialogue within the elevator, this microphone picked up the banging and crashing of our actors during the choreographed fight sequence.

The tripod we used allowed us to shoot Pan, Tilt and generally stabilized the camera. We also used two studio lights on the outside of the elevator. These created an indoor light feeling we wanted in order to create the illusion of a closed space.

Due to our location, we were filming in a very tight space, unlike large sets, our whole crew wasn't able to see directly into the elevator without appearing in the frame. As the director, I used a monitor to watch the action.

Production - Software and Online

Software

We used the email service Microsoft Outlook to keep our cast updated. We stayed in contact with them throughout the entire production process, including an email two weeks prior, the day before, and the day of, which ensured they knew what they needed to wear or bring, and where to meet us that morning.

Online

We used the app Snapchat on the shoot day. This was how we as a crew were able to communicate quickly through the day, either on messages, calls, or video calls. Google Drive served as a backup since all of our documents were online, we could easily access them if we needed, we had our shot list, storyboard, and shooting schedule on paper the day of filming, but each crew member also had a backup on their device through Google Drive, which kept us prepared and on schedule.
